The arctic is a beautiful land of Ice and snow. People may not adapt to these conditions, but animals do! Withstanding minus degrees temperatures well below freezing, animals in the arctic can survive. Check out the cool creatures!
Polar Bear[]
Polar Bears are somehow connected to wild bears (like the Grizzly or Black bear) but have coats that are snow--white. This animal is a carnivore, meaning it eats meat, but is actually an omnivore (eater of meat, fish and vegatables). Polar bears are considered as the world's largest land carnivore on the planet. The polar bear is a marine mammal.
It's behaviour: adult and young adult polar bears will feed and journey together for short periods of time.
Polar bears congregate by feeding on whale carcasses or at dump sites. They will have play fights for mating season, when the ice melts.
Polar bears have rough surfaces on their paw pads to prevent them from slipping on the Ice!
Arctic Fox[]
At first glance, you may think this is a normal fox. But this is no ordinary fox you'd find checking out your rubbish for food and causing mischief in the street; this is the Arctic Fox, living in cold climates. They have short muzzles, ears and legs which conserve heat. Arctic foxes have also have thick fur on their paws, allowing them to walk across snow and ice.
Size: 2.3 to 3.5. feet (76-1.1m) in length including their 12 inch tail. At the shoulder, they're 9 to 12 inches (2--3m) tall.
