Any place which receives less than 25cm of rainfall annually is a desert. This makes deserts hot, dry and barren places. Because of the extreme wheather condition, some animals that have adapted can only be found in deserts.

The 'ship of the desert' can survive long spells of drought because it stores its share of water and food in its hump. It uses this reserve during the drought period.
