Rabbit

Rabbits are small mammals in the Leproridae family, found in several parts of the world. They make great pets for children and adults of all ages, apart from allergy sufferers.

Other types of rabbit are the European Rabbit, Cottontail Rabbits and the acient Amami Rabbit. 

Rabbits are also referred to as a bunny. They come in different colours, such as black, brown--and--white or snowy--white. 

Features[]

  • The rabbit's ears can more than 10 cm (4 inches) long. 
  • Rabbits have 5 toes on their front paws (the extra toe is called the dewclaw) and 4 toes on their hind feet.
  • These creatures are crepuscular, meaning mainly active at dawn and dusk. Average sleep time: 8.4 hrs.

Height: 20 cm, 8 inches 

Weight: 0.4 kg, 50 cm (20 inches) more than 2kg. 

Lifespan[]

9 -- 12 years; the oldest rabbit ever lived was up to 18 years! 

Origin[]

Pet Rabbits are related to the European type. The Amami Rabbit is acient and lives on two small islands near Japan. They are becoming threatened due to hunting.

It looks similar compared to the normal rabbit/bunny, with a bulky body, short feet and legs and smaller ears.
